God is Funny!!! Week 6 total/ Week 4 in Carlsbad!!!

Howdy Ya'll Well every one has there bad weeks yeah? of coarse they do but lets not focus on that part, God has a funny way of doing things I think he has the most sense of humor I've ever seen!!! As we keep praying for miracles and investigators to teach they keep coming........ For our ELDERS! now maybe its because elders need all the help they can get or maybe its because if the Elders ran out of people they would go insane! that may all be true but I also think the Elders are praying That we Sisters Have patience because oh Boy is the Lord Testing my patients and For District meeting Guess who is giving the discussion on Patients.... That's right ladies and gentle men Yours truly! I have seen the Hand of God in everyday things and I've realized that if you look for them its IMPOSSIBLE to not see the hand of God in everything you do! My companion knew I was struggling with recognizing if the promptings I get are from the Spirit or from just my head so the nest day we did everything that came to my head as long as it was allowed and it wouldn't cause harm! and I thought sometimes I was just wasting time but it ended Up being promptings of the spirit! we got to meet with 4 Less actives who were super nice but not interested and one of them said to me "I don't agree with everything that is in the church but I will never slam my door  in your face I don't believe that any one deserves that but especially not missionaries!" so that was super cool! as we've been Praying and Praying for someone to teach who isn't a guy we got one.... She is 7 and she doesn't have sister Missionaries in her ward and her father wants us to teach her! I am for ever grateful for the opportunity to teach and to help someone prepare for baptism but next time I have to be Super Specific!!!!   So we got our person and we've seen miracles I have two quotes I want to share with everyone! the first being "I owe, I owe its off to work I go!" I just love that that so much and "I do what I do Because I know What I know!" I'm sorry I don't have more for you guys this week but just remember that God does answer Prayers and that when you look for the hand of God in your life its IMPOSSIBLE TO NOT SEE IT!

Deep Fried in Coconut Oil Week 5/ week 3

Good Morning Good Morning!
I feel like every great experience comes after hard times! and Isn't that just beautiful!! When ever you are going through a hard time just know that when you make it through, God is waiting to send you blessings!! Okay so after me and my companion got better we went crazy hard to work! our WML (Ward Mission Leader) had given us a new invitation to pray about 10 people that need a visit or need us for what ever reason! so we did we prayed so hard that night and we decided that the first person on our list was the one that didn't like us the most not even didn't like us just who we had a hard time understanding how to work with! So we got to their house and I offered a prayer and in it I asked that they WOULD be Home because my Mamma always taught me, if you ask god whether something "might" happen it will take longer to see results you need to have Faith That he WILL make something happen! and Guess what They were there we had an amazing visit and we had invited this person to share the truths that they knew and that immense joy would come from it! We saw them on Sunday and they thanked us for stopping by and that it meant a lot to them!!!

WHOOOOO Okay next Miracle We were walking in a neighbor hood about to go visit this Brother that was on our list and while we were my companion and a sister who was leaving the next day so she was with us were just talking to everyone and holy moly! the first gentle man who had bothered to talk to us was an elderly Hispanic man who was a member of another church up the road and my Comp started talking about how beautiful of a church it was and how much history was in it! and Victor just lit up and we got to talking he said "You know I just look up to you ladies so much! These young people need Jesus and God in their lives and they wont listen to an old feller like me you know.  They will just say oh its cause he's old that he is talking like that he doesn't know anything about my life or what I'm going through but you guys do! who better to send to reach gods children then gods children!" so He didn't want a missionary lesson but he gave us a few people in the neighborhood he thought could use the best message and that is the words and teachings of Christ! ALL his words I promise I wouldn't lie I'm a missionary!!! AH next miracle So we continue to walk and its my turn to contact the next person YIKES FANTASTIC AHHHH was all going through my head and I was like its fine its fine I can totally NOT do this so I took a breath we turned the corner and we saw a guy working on someone's yard Perfect!!! So I thought to my self Oh no He is working and at this point I think God had had enough with me so he spoke to me very plainly and said "So are you, but your work, My work, is more important!!!" Well I couldn't argue with that one so I went up and we talked to him........He was so Amazing! He had talked to 3 other sets of missionaries at that same exact spot! and he had plenty of questions for us THAT I COULD ACTUALLY ANSWER!!!!! some I couldn't but that's why god blessed me with the worlds best companion he was asking about the restoration and why did it need to be brought back to the earth and we simply told him "When Christ was on the earth he formed his church in the perfect form with prophets apostles and the priesthood (the power of god to preform miracles)  and when he was crucified along with his apostles that priesthood authority was removed and good honest people wanted to still have religion but they left out key parts that maybe they didn't agree with or know how to do" and He held onto that and he just looked at us and was like wow I can tell that you guys truly believe everything you guys are saying and I feel good he said I want to walk around with the name of Christ on my Chest professing of the truths that I know he had asked a few more questions that we clarified like, no we don't worship Joseph Smith he was a man just like Moses Called of God to bring his children out of darkness and he was good with that! So towards the end of our 45 minute conversation I felt very prompted to hand him this card that you could scan with your phone and it downloads the Book of Mormon and I mentioned that you can search key words (cause he wanted to see if the BoM mentioned certain things) and it was just fantastic he has Mormon friends and even though he didn't want to have us over for another lesson I feel like he is in a good place and who knows maybe he will look for missionaries one day again, but I was so uplifted from that experience! and there were a few other miracles that day! The next day I was brushing my teeth and saw the coconut oil in the pantry and it said great natural moisturizer and I put it all over!! what I failed to read above it also was, "Great for frying & has high heat index!" I decided to do this on one of the hottest days this month...... Brilliant!

Sincerely  Sister Prather

Week 4/Week 2 in Carlsbad YSA-B (X2)

Hello everybody! I'm afraid I don't have any miracles like last week due to the fact my and my trainer got really badly sick this last week! And let me tell you cabin fever exists!!! we ended up just driving one night because we were stuck inside for 3 whole days!!! and I absolutely hate puzzles I have come to find out! When we were able to make it out of the apartment we were always fortunate to be where we needed to be and who ever we saw really needed us there at that time we reminded one sister that her Father in Heaven is always thinking of her and that he will send aid when you need it the most I wish I had my scriptures so that I could quote what we had shared with her cause it was very uplifting!!! I'm sorry I don't have a whole lot to write this week but always remember that if you have desires to do good the lord will always provide a way and or opportunity for you to do so, so always take every advantage you have to do some small act of kindness for someone else! Heavenly Father knows all of you and is always thinking of you as am I! I miss and Love all of you guys and I need addresses If you want a hand written Letter! I cant promise when but I will do my best!

Sincerely, Sis. Prather

I felt there were a few parts in her letter to me that I should add in here.  I really enjoyed this and thought some of you might as well...Enjoy!

Okay so Kinda had a lousy week starting off with getting a parking ticket!!! yay :( and they only take checks! so I figured out the reason why I brought my Check book! Praying its the only time I need to use it!   I love all the pictures sorry none this week but being sick doesn't really shout lets take pictures! Daddies email made me cry UGH!!!!   My WML(Ward Mission Leader) freaked out on me because we are trying to get it through that ward missionary work is whats going to make our numbers grow! and I neglected to tell him that I've helped bring 5 souls unto Christ and how you taught a lady in the airport and she went to where she lived searched it out and became a member and sent you her prosperity list because you weren't afraid to share the gospel when she asked you about it.. He was sooooooooo mad that I hadn't shared it sooner and he almost cried... he was like Lord forgive this sister and was just like this is what we neeeeeeed lol it was kinda funny! So my letter is kinda depressing I don't want you to stress because I wrote it on my sick day and I was seriously being torn at by the adversary but I'm okay now! I took the sacrament twice yesterday (we sang in the family ward... Ahh how I miss the sound of screaming children! lol) and we met with a sister who just adores Missionaries and it got me pumped for life!!! All of my roommates love when we don't have dinner because then I cook.  I will start taking pictures of all my meals they are glorious!!! lol You'd be proud of me!!!

Sincerely, your Angel

Week/letter 3/Week 1 in Carlsbad

So I landed in Carlsbad a week ago (about a week ago week ago) And I absolutely love my Mission President! I was called to Carlsbad YSA and even though its great they are a tough crowed. they don't believe that missionary work should be the main priority (UGH). My companion is an Angel! I love her soooooooo much! She is going home soon though and I am soo sad! she is from Utah like almost everyone else but she is a southern girl at heart we get along so incredibly well! My first week was awesome! I've had a lot of great experiences! Running is fun I can totally breath here and i'm trying to really push myself! No one really talked about how hard things can be! or maybe they did and I wasn't listening which is a lot more likely! lol But the Biggest experience happened on Saturday! We are only allowed to teach Single women with no kids and in California its hard to find them at their house! We have been trying to work with the members but they aren't really cooperating with us which makes it hard. So when 15 people didn't open their doors (Members) I got into a really bad funk and I told Sister Forsyth that I was really feeling down so we went and got Ice cream! its was awesome! and we prayed and the next person we went to go see was a young man who just got back from Samoa and got some mosquito disease but was still happy we where there and visited with us! so that really brightened my spirits! and then the next girl we went to met with us! and she is pretty cool! She is staying with her Gma for the summer and she wanted to serve a mission but while she was at school got crazy anxiety and depression but the Drs gave her the wrong medicine and it just made things worse so now the Drs won't let her go on a mission and we shared stories with her and really formed a bond and then we started sharing Funny stories and everyone knows that I have plenty of those lol I told the Christmas story the broom story the Col. Cars story and the story of when I slept walked and peed on someone's shoes in the closet (would I could I Okay) that was my Companions favorite story! But Moral of the story is that she thanked us for being there because she doesn't have friends and I felt so strongly to invite her to church and she said she would think about it (BUT SHE CAME!!!!!) so I was in such a good mood leaving and we had to go contact 20 ppl that's our SOE so we went to Carlsbad downtown at like 8:30 so me and My companion were just telling stories and laughing and I had asked a guy for a ride on his Skate board and he looked at me like he didn't speak English so then I asked if there was room for two! I thought it was funny lol but we just kept going and I was being goofy and there was this guy who had a Guitar on his back and I had felt Prompted to ask him to play Something for us! it was weird but I did it! and he started playing for us he had asked me questions and we were being a little silly but at the end of his song I told him I don't have any money but I have this card with a website on it and it just has videos of Jesus Christ and peoples stories on how they grew closer to him and he said I think that's the best payment anyone could have given me! and he said woul you believe that you are a god sent and I just kinda responded with "Well my name is Angel so .... sure yeah!" and he kinda got emotional and said how fitting I was Praying for an Angel All day!!!! and WOWWWWWWW I almost Cried! I was having the worst day ever! but if those 15 people had answered their doors I wouldn't have met with A... Or E... and I wouldn't have met O... (Guitar guy) and that was just a testimony builder for me that EVERYTHING is in the lords time and if we just trust him and have the courage to Open our mouths to share what we Know then God will take care of the rest we just need to have Faith that he Will!!!! I love and miss all of you and i'm praying for everyone like crazy!!! Until Next week! Share what you Know to be true!

Sincerely, Sister Prather
